Tattoo Removal

Advanced laser technology for safe, effective, and precise pigment eradication.

Our Approach

While tattoos are designed to be permanent, personal aesthetics and circumstances naturally evolve. At Pilot Medical Clinic, we approach tattoo removal as a sophisticated process of dermal clearing. Utilizing advanced, medical-grade laser technology, we safely shatter trapped ink particles while preserving the structural integrity of the surrounding skin, allowing for a clean and natural fading process.

Science of tattoo removal

When a tattoo is applied, ink particles are deposited deep into the dermis. Because these particles are too large for the body’s immune system to process and eliminate, the ink remains permanently trapped by your white blood cells (macrophages).

Effective removal requires breaking these large pigment clusters into microscopic fragments. Key factors influencing the removal process include:

  • Ink Depth and Density: Professional tattoos typically penetrate deeper and are more densely packed than amateur tattoos, requiring a highly calibrated approach to clear fully.

  • Pigment Colors: Darker pigments like black and navy blue absorb laser energy most efficiently and are the easiest to treat. Lighter colors like yellow, green, and light blue require specific, alternating laser wavelengths to break down.

  • Age of the Tattoo: Older tattoos have often naturally faded and degraded over time, making them slightly easier to remove than fresh, heavily saturated ink.

  • Location on the Body: Areas with high vascularity (like the face, neck, and upper chest) tend to clear faster than extremities (like the hands and feet) due to more efficient lymphatic drainage.

Our Clinical Approach at Pilot Medical Clinic

Led by our Medical Director, Dr. Jason Lau, our clinical protocols prioritize safety, efficacy, and the absolute prevention of thermal damage to the skin. We rely on ultra-short pulse technology for targeted, precise clearance.

Our primary therapeutic modalities include:

  • Advanced Picosecond Laser Technology: Utilizing ultra-short picosecond pulses to deliver a photoacoustic (sound) shockwave rather than a photothermal (heat) effect. This shatters the ink into dust-like particles with minimal heat transfer, significantly reducing the risk of scarring or hyperpigmentation.

  • Multi-Wavelength Targeting: Deploying highly calibrated wavelengths (such as 1064nm for dark inks and 532nm for warm tones) to ensure comprehensive clearance across a wide spectrum of tattoo colors.

  • Dermal Support and Recovery: Integrating medical-grade soothing agents and strict post-care protocols to accelerate tissue healing, reduce localized inflammation, and optimize the body’s natural lymphatic clearance of the shattered ink.
